Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a state-level exam conducted once a year to enable candidates gain eligibility for primary (Classes 1-5) and upper primary (Classes 6-8) level teachers in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The exam is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB). UPTET exam is conducted in two shifts for two papers - I and II. UPTET paper-I is conducted for candidates who plan to become teachers of Classes 1-5. On the other hand, UPTET paper-II is for candidates who plan to become teachers of Classes 6-8. Candidates who wish to become teachers of Classes 1-8 need to appear in both the papers. Both the UPTET papers are conducted on the same day in offline mode as pen-and-paper based tests.

UPTET Notification 2021

The UPTET 2021 notification will be released on May 11, 2021. The notification will contain crucial details of the exam including the application process, eligibility criteria, important dates, exam pattern, syllabus and others. Candidates who qualify the UPTET exam become eligible for recruitment as primary or upper-primary (also called middle school) level teachers in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The qualifying candidates receive their UPTET eligibility certificate in due course after the declaration of result. The UPTET eligibility certificate is valid for a period of five years.

UPTET Eligibility 2021

The basic criteria that candidates need to fulfill in order to meet UPTET 2021 eligibility are:

  •  Candidates should clear graduation in any discipline
  •  Candidates should be between 18 and 35 years in age
  •  Candidates should be citizens of India/Nepal/Bhutan/Tibet

UPTET Selection Process 2021

UPTET selection process includes the following stages:

  • Written exam: UPTET exam consists of two papers. Paper-I needs to be given by aspirants who plan to teach classes I-V. Paper-II needs to be given by candidates who plan to teach classes VI-VIII. Candidates who plan to teach classes I-VIII need to appear for both the papers.
  • UPTET result: UPTET result is announced by the exam conducting authority on the official website of the exam. Candidates scoring minimum 60 per cent marks in the written test are declared UPTET qualified.
  • UPTET eligibility certificate Candidates qualifying the written test are issued an eligibility certificate by the exam authority. Candidates having the certificate are eligible to apply for teaching jobs in the schools of Uttar Pradesh. The validity of the UPTET eligibility certificate is five years.
